Fashion designer David Meister has been recognized alongside some of the most respected figures in American fashion. Meisterís name is synonymous with sophisticated, beautiful, body conscious womenís wear and his list of devotees reads like a whoís-who in the world of fashion, entertainment, and culture. Meisterís designs are a red carpet staple, gracing the frames of some of the most recognized women in Hollywood including Diane Lane, Katherine Heigl, Queen Latifah, Fergie, Felicity Huffman, Tina Fey, Demi Lovato, Drew Barrymore, Sigourney Weaver, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Sharon Stone.
Born and raised in Ohio, Meister earned a degree in fashion design from The University of Cincinnati College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning. After graduation, he moved to New York and secured a position at Danskin, the original fitness and bodywear company. It was there that he taught himself the magic of stretch in fabrication, and how it can be used to masterfully present the feminine form in a way that flatters curves and embodies glamour Ė a concept still prevalent in his designs today.
In 1998, Meister joined forces with Kellwood Company to create his first evening wear collection. Five months later, he premiered his first fall line, a compilation of modern evening wear that served as the genesis of the David Meister collection. This was followed in 2000 by the launch of Meisterís daytime dress collection, in 2009 by the launch of David Meister Signature sold exclusively through Bergdorf Goodman, and in 2010 by the launch of David Meister Bridal. His lines of day dresses, cocktail dresses, and gowns can be found in the nationís top luxury department stores including Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue, as well as top boutiques across the country.
In addition to designing, Meister continues to be at the forefront of the causes and organizations in which he believes. He is a long-standing member and active participant in the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), and also serves as an ambassador for Dress for Success. Meister was recently honored at Fashion For Life, a benefit for Friendly House in Los Angeles, and this month will be honored at the Susan G. Komen Men in Pink Ties event during Breast Cancer Awareness month, at which they are recognizing men committed to raising awareness for the cause.
A popular television personality, Meister has appeared on numerous news and entertainment programs, including Access Hollywood, the Today Show, The Insider, TV Guideís The Fashion Team, E! That Morning Show, Today in LA, and Hollyscoop. Meisterís fashions have graced the pages of InStyle, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, O: The Oprah Magazine, People, More, and Glamour, and he has personally been profiled in Angeleno, LA Confidential, and WWD.
